The Homeschool Education Leadership Team allows volunteers at Days End Farm Horse Rescue (DEFHR) to share their passion for teaching and love of horses with youth in the local community. The Team is guided by DEFHR's Community Outreach Director Nicky Wetzelberger.
During the Homeschool Education Program, youth participate in a series of educational sessions. Each session includes one hour of classroom instruction followed by one hour working hands-on with the horses, applying the lessons learned in class.
The curriculum includes lessons about:
- digestive system
- new arrivals
- hoof care
- first aid
- horse psychology
