Days End Farm Horse Rescue (DEFHR) will be celebrating the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) national Help A Horse Day on April 26 and competing for a chance to win up to $10,000 in grant prizes to assist with their efforts to protect horses. DEFHR will be celebrating Help a Horse Day by hosting an event on Saturday April 25, 2015 where participants can visit and learn all about how the organization helps horses heal through a hands-on, two hour program which includes a tour of the farm, horse tales—stories about how the horses came here, horse care (hoof, dental, nutrition), hands-on horse grooming, hands-on horse leading and a short riding demonstration.
This nationwide competition held the weekend of April 24-26 is for equine rescues and sanctuaries to raise awareness about the lifesaving work they do year-round to care for at-risk horses in their community who have often been abused or neglected.
“DEFHR relishes in opportunities to educate and raise awareness of Maryland’s at-risk horses,” said Erin Ochoa, Executive Director of Days End Farm Horse Rescue. “These majestic, sensitive and loving animals have a voice here at DEFHR and deserve a second chance at finding their forever homes. We look forward to welcoming our local supporters to visit the farm on April 25 and help us win the $10,000 grant so that DEFHR can continue to make an impact in our lifesaving efforts for years to come.”
