If you need information about how to care for a horse that is suffering from nutrition, starvation, neglect, or abuse, please call your veteranarian immediately. After your call, click here for additional information!
There are many ways you can help save a horse! By helping DEFHR, you can ensure the care and rehabilitation of the DEFHR horses. While donations help buy the necessities and keep the farm in operation, there are also other ways to help DEFHR!
For those with a passion to help horses, consider help by joining our Foster Care Program ,or you can become a Full Sponsor for a special needs horse, or possibly consider our Adoption opportunities. If you have no horse experience but would like to financially Sponsor a horse you could consider our "Equadopt Program."
There are also other ways to save horses that aren't at DEFHR. If you see a horse in need, call your local animal control officer immediately. Let people know its not okay to abuse a horse. Encourage your local humane society to interact with DEFHR, so that they become familiar with DEFHR's work and capabilities. Encourage friends and neighbors to think responsible when purchasing a horse. Be sure that they understand the cost and commitment of caring for a horse.
If you are a DEFHR Volunteer, or thinking about becoming one, or thinking of fostering, sponsoring or adopting a DEFHR Horse, check out our Yahoo! Group! We keep a current of DEFHR Events, Volunteer Opportunities, and other news. The Group also hosts moderated chats, discussion boards, and a cyber-place for DEFHR folk to hang out.
