DAYS END FARM HORSE RESCUE
INVITED TO UNWANTED HORSE SUMMIT

By Fred Glueckstein

Lisbon, Maryland – January 17, 2005 - Days End Farm Horse Rescue has been invited to participate at an Unwanted Horse Summit hosted by the American Association of Equine Practioners on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, during the American Horse Council’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C. The Summit will look at the pressing problem of thousands of unwanted horses in the United States and Canada.

Days End Farm Horse Rescue will be joining select major equine industry leaders representing breed groups, sport and discipline organizations, rescue and retirement facilities, veterinary associations, and welfare groups. Working sessions will focus on identifying the factors that contribute to the number of unwanted horses and developing strategies for solving the problem.

“Days End Farm Horse Rescue is extremely pleased to be invited and participate at the Unwanted Horse Summit in Washington, D.C.,” said Kathleen Schwartz, Executive Director of Days End. “From the time my husband Allan and I founded Days End over 15 years ago, we have been diligently striving for a solution to the growing number of unwanted horses. We believe our experience and insight in dealing with unwanted horses will contribute to the discussions at this truly unique and unprecedented national gathering of leaders of the equine community.”

Other horse rescue groups joining Days End at the Summit include the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, and the Illinois Hooved Animal Humane Society.

Days End Farm Horse Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer based animal welfare organization dedicated to rehabilitating abused and neglected horses. The all-breed horse rescue has long been nationally recognized for its work in the fields of equine rescue and rehabilitation, educational programs, community outreach, and animal disaster recovery. It is estimated that the lives of over 1,000 horses have been helped in Maryland and across the United States by the staff, volunteers, and donors of Days End Farm Horse Rescue.
