Foals and Fun at Days End’s Spring Carnival

Lisbon, MD – April 25, 2007 – Kadbury and Lily, two frisky, long-legged fillies born in April, eagerly await viewing visitors at Days End Farm’s Spring Carnival - an annual event taking place June 23rd, 11 am to 4 pm.

DeEtte Gorrie, volunteer coordinator, wrote in a recent letter to volunteers, “Easter Lily and Kadbury are absolute delights and bring a special energy to the farm.” Like most thriving foals, they grow bigger and stronger every day, but that’s only because their mothers were rescued from a horse-hoarder in December and given proper care and nutrition by Days End Farm Horse Rescue. Today, the foals are among over 70 horses currently living on the farm and will soon be available for adoption to new homes.

Some families attend Spring Carnival every year so they can see the horses, shop for souvenirs and find out what’s new with the ever-changing programs. Some come for the food, music and games. Big and little visitors can enjoy the petting zoo and pony rides (last year an adventurous octogenarian did), face painting, and games like balloon darts, basketball toss and golf. Adults can take part in a 50/50 raffle, visit a massage booth or stroll through Bubba’s Bargain Barn.

All proceeds from Spring Carnival help Days End carry out their mission: Fostering compassion and responsibility for horses through intervention, education and outreach. They have rescued more than 1,300 horses from neglect and abuse since their founding in 1989. The Carnival will be held on Saturday, June 23, from 11 am to 4 pm, rain or shine. No pets please!

Days End is located at 15856 Frederick Road in Lisbon near the intersection of 144 and 94. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Admission is $5 for families, $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12.
