DISCOVERY CHANNEL HELPS HORSE RESCUE
Days End Farm Horse Rescue (DEFHR) starred in a new show on the Discovery Channel that was aired on November 24th at 4PM EST. The show will be aired again on March 24, 2004 at 4 PM EST. The show, called Double Agents (click here for more info), is a fly-on-the-wall program that gives you a front-row seat on the emotional roller coaster of buying a home. These days it's the quick or the dead in the world of real estate. Singles, couples and families need any edge they can get to grab the right place at the right time for the right price. In each show you meet a new buyer and give them the advantage over the competition by putting not one, but two agents on the case. You will learn their different tricks of the trade, get their tips for buyers, and see inside some great houses along the way.
"Healing Horses" is the title of the Double Agents show staring
Kathleen and Allan Schwartz, founders of Days End Farm Horse Rescue. They need
a new property
for their horse rescue farm, but don't have the cash. The lease is running out
on the farm, so they have to find a million dollar property for the horses. They
also have to find a million dollars. "The Discovery Channel staff is hoping that
this show will reach people who care about "Healing Horses" that will help
us
by sending donations to buy a new farm," says Kathleen Schwartz.
DEFHR is a non-profit volunteer based organization established in 1989 to ensure
quality care and treatment of equines through rehabilitation and humane education
and community outreach that survives solely through donations from the public
and foundations and receives no government or state funding. Currently, the
farm is home to 55 equines that range in a variety of breeds, which need love
and care. "We know we need to be proactive in this situation and Discovery
Channel is making it easier for us to do that," says Kathleen Schwartz “Farms
are not cheap, particularly for a non-profit organization that relies on private
donations and grants in order to survive, and we understand this undertaking
will require that we reach out to the general public to help in our capital
campaign to purchase a new farm. A "DEFHR - Farm Fund" has been started
and donations can be mailed to "Farm Fund", P.O. Box 309, Lisbon, MD
21765 or you can reach them by calling 410-442-1564 click the "DONATE NOW" button
