Receives 4-Star Rating for Financial Health

Out performs Most Charities for 3rd Consecutive Year!

Lisbon, MD – March 10, 2008 – In February, Days End Farm Horse Rescue received a 4- out of 4-star rating for sound fiscal management. It is the third year in a row the organization has won this coveted rating from Charity Navigator, the country’s top charity evaluator providing donors with information aimed at helping them choose where to place their hard-earned dollars.

According to Charity Navigator, Days End earned the 4-star rating for their ability to efficiently manage and grow their finances. In an award letter to Days End, they stated, “Only 9% of the charities we’ve rated have received at least 3 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Days End Farm Horse Rescue outperforms most charities in America in its efforts to operate in the most fiscally responsible way possible. This ‘exceptional’ designation. . . differentiates Days End . . . from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

Days End Executive Director, Kathy Schwartz-Howe, responded, “We are so proud to be acknowledged by such a respected organization. This rating is especially meaningful considering the fact that our fiscal management practices were in place long before Charity Navigator began rating us in 2005.”

Schwartz-Howe hopes this recognition will give donors confidence that their contributions will go a long way toward helping the organization continue treating rescued horses, while taking on the responsibilities of their new 58-acre farm. Significant funds are needed to take an old cattle ranch and create a state-of-the art equine rescue and rehabilitation facility. Days End has also been awarded the “Best in America” seal of approval by Independent Charities of America–a Certificate of Excellence given only to nonprofit organizations meeting the highest standards of public accountability and service.
