Animal Control Officials Rescue Neglected Horses

Mike Schuh, Reporting

(WJZ) WJZ.com has learned more than a dozen critically neglected horses have been rescued by Animal Control officials in Calvert County.

WJZ's Mike Schuh talked to employees from the Days End Farm Horse Rescue who were involved in seizing 18 horses Wednesday, suspected of being severely neglected.

Calvert County Animal Control and ASPCA cooperated with the State's Attorney's office of Calvert County to rescue the horses from a private owner.

The horses are now at the Days End Farm in Lisbon, where officials say they are starting a long road to recovery.

The horses include all breed types and range in age from very young foals to mares and stallions.

There are no words of charges yet for the horse farm owner.

The Days End Farm Horse has worked with Eyewitness News in the past to publicize stories of animal neglect. Anyone interested in contacting the Days End Farm should call 301-854-5037.
