The Equine Programs Internship at Days End Farm Horse Rescue (DEFHR) gives participants a unique opportunity to work with neglected and abused horses seized by animal protection authorities. Through this internship, participants will gain practical experience as a member of Days End Farm Horse Rescue’s (DEFHR) Equine Programs Department. The intern will participate in all phases of the daily operations of a non-profit horse rescue, which includes assisting staff members with care and rehabilitation of horses, creating marketing materials of horses available for adoption, and provide support to adoption and horse sponsorship programs. This position will spend time working in an office setting (75%) in addition to working in the barn (25%) to get hands-on time with horses to improve husbandry skills with a large, diverse herd of horses.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Interns will develop teamwork and leadership skills by assisting with care and adoption for a population of 50-90 DEFHR horses, learning from a knowledgeable DEFHR staff, coordinating enthusiastic DEFHR volunteers, and educating the community through DEFHR's outreach programs.

Internship available for 3-6 month intervals. Interns committed to 5 months or more will be asked to work 5 days a week, interns working 3-4 months will be asked to work 6 days a week. We are looking to fill position ASAP.
