Program Horses
Our Program Horses are the mainstay of our educational programs. The Girl Scouts come to earn their horse lovers badges, Animal Control Officers come to learn what to look for in cases of abuse or neglect, and many school and child care facilities or institutions come for our Farm Days Program. These horses are the best of the best!! All of them come very close to the label "Child safe...Bomp Proof", and we are very grateful that they found their way to DEFHR. With the right training, many of the horses that come to DEFHR can be trained to be just as good as our program guys. All the horses below are available for Foster Care.

Arabian
Gelding
Ghost was part of an impoundment in 2003 and was a starvation case. Once he was rehabilitated and worked with under saddle, it was determined that he would make a wonderful addition to our Educational Program Horses. He is a 20 year old Arabian with a great temperament. He is available for Foster Care at DEFHR.

Legacy
23 Years Old
14.2 Hands
Bay Morgan
Mare
Legacy was donated to DEFHR in 1994 to be used in our lesson program. She used to do 35 mile endurance rides. She is so quiet to groom you hardly know she's awake. She is great for the kids at walk trot but a little hard to slow down when in the canter. She requires very little pressure on her sides and you definitely would not want to squeeze her too hard with your legs. She has been a great addition to our programs.
