Open House Highlights from 2007 - See Pictures Below!!

Summer is always kicked off at Days End with our annual Open House and Spring Carnival. This years event is on June 28, 2008. Families from all over the community come in record numbers! Our typical attendance is over 900 people.

Grandparents, Moms and Dads with kids in tow, singles and groups ebb and flow throughout the day. No one has to wait in line long for the ever popular pony rides or petting zoo. Everyone seems to enjoy listening to the music, eating savory foods, taking in the informative booths and lingering in “game alley.” Smiling youngsters can always be seen playing for prizes, feeding carrots to the petting zoo animals, getting their faces painted or hair braided.

Photo shirts—a new feature — are a big hit with children and adults alike. Children beam as they try on their T-shirts adorned with a souvenir photograph of horse and them, the rider. Other visitors were intent on studying the “picture biographies” posted along the fences, watching the horses and responding to their nudging requests for a friendly pat on the neck.

Much appreciation as always goes to all our visitors, volunteers, sponsors and Days End staff who always make this day a success. Monies raised at this yearly event go a long way toward allowing us to care for the abused and neglected horses that arrive at Days End.
