Farm Days Program: $5.00 per child
*Sponsored through a 2003 grant from The Maryland Horse Industry Board
This program was developed for school children ranging from pre-schoolers to high school and includes handicapped and underprivileged children. This program is open to all organizations whose mission is the care and/or education of children.

The children visit the farm for a day. They receive a tour of the farm, which includes stories about the horses and how they came to DEFHR. They are encouraged to pet the horses as well as the other animals on the farm (sheep, goats, dogs and cats).
After instruction, they are allowed to groom the horses and are then given the opportunity to ride.
Due to the fact that this is a farm environment and that the actions of animals cannot always be predicted we require a minimum of one adult per five children attending the program and one adult for each child if the child has special needs.
Our volunteers supervise the animals but we expect the leaders to supervise the children and obey the rules of the farm as they are advised before admittance.

We also require a release form to be signed by the participants and their parents.
